MODEL HN-35G Helium Neon Laser

The HN-35G lasers are similar in design to the HN-50G. The two main differences are that the frame for the HN-35G is shorter than that of the HN-50G, and the standard HN-35G has an integral power supply located in the resonator frame. In the HN-50G, the power supply is configured in a separate housing. Otherwise, the general specifications for the HN-35G are identical to those of the HN-50G models. See specifications for the HN-50G for parameters for the HN-50G models.

The cavity space of the standard HN-35G laser is sufficiently large to permit the integration of the high voltage power supply inside the laser frame. The encapsulated switching-type power supply module fits conveniently between between the internal space frame tube supports. All laser controls are conveniently located on the rear apron of the laser head.

OPTIONAL EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY
A special configuration of the HN-35G laser allowing for higher than normal output is available. Due to the high power consumption of this laser design, it is necessary to utilize an external high voltage power supply. That power supply, Model PS-510, is similar to that used by the HN-50G and HN-50G-IRA models. Both types feature a Constant Voltage Transformer (CVT) design with solid state electronics circuitry for reliable, trouble-free operation. Controls include a CDRH specified safety keyswitch, power ON pushbutton, automatic fail-safe circuitry for shutting down the laser in the event of a filament (cathode) failure. The power supply is cooled using forced air from an internal whisper fan.

OPTIONAL WORK TABLE MOUNTING KIT
Model ALM-35, part number 51341.
Applies to all laser models.

General specifications
Construction: Kinematically stable design, with space invar frame. Laser tube is 86 cm long
with quartz Brewster angle windows at both ends. The standard HN-35G laser utilizes a
cold cathode design. The large bore version of the laser utilizes a hot cathode design consisting of
4 tungsten filaments used one at a time. This provides sufficient discharge current to optimize the performance of the laser tube for high bulk at the 3.39 &micron wavelength. The large bore configuration is not suitable for for operation at the 633nm wavelength.
