Jodon’s BET-25 Beam Expanding Telescope is a high quality inexpensive collimator for applications where laser beam expansion to diameters of 27mm or less is required. This instrument utilizes the industry’s most versatile and convenient LPSF-100 spatial filter in conjunction with a highly precise, two element, coated output lens system. In laser transit or communications work where filtering is not required, the main objective can be mounted on the lens adapter to form the CL-25 laser collimator. The CL-25 performs identically to the BET-25 except that it’s beam is not spatially filtered.
The collimating optics were designed and fabricated to provide lambda over ten performance from .4400 to 1.2 microns with transmission loss less than 5 percent from 0.44 to 0.68 microns and 1.05 to 1.16 microns. When coupled with standard microscope objectives as input lenses, the 80mm focal length collimating lens provides a magnification of 1/2 the specified microscope power; i.e., when the telescope is used with a 10x objective, the output beam will be magnified 5x when properly focused for collimation.
For those already using the LPSF-100, the CL-25 main objective can be purchased separately. It is supplied with screws, adapter, and new pinhole focus control necessary for converting the LPSF-100 to the BET-25 in a matter of seconds. No special tools or fixtures are required.
