PM-450B Optical Power Meter

  • Visible to near IR
  • Self contained - no external power or batteries required
  • Five power ranges and two scales
  • Output for recorder

JODON’s Model PM-450B Optical Power Meter is a precision analog laser power meter. Utilizing a photovoltaic silicon cell, there is no requirement for external excitation or driving power. Elimination of batteries and other power sources reduces logistical problems, and eliminates a source of measurement inaccuracy. The fast response time of the 2% taut band meter allows for quick meter readings. the analog meter movement is the preferred readout for most laser tuning specialists. The PM-450B is accurate to ±5% of the full scale value on all ranges. The power is calibrated for operation at 632.8 nanometers, but may be corrected for other wavelengths with the supplied spectral response curve. This allows the meter to be used for all low power lasers operating from the visible to the near IR (400 to 1150 nanameters). Five measurement ranges, on two red and black scales, cover 1 milliwatt to 100 milliwatts, with resolution as small as 20 microwatts (0-1mW scale).

A standard BNC connector on the front panel allows output to a 10mV recorder. overall frequency response is flat from DC to 50kHz for amplitude modulated signals at the recorder output. Recorders with an input impedance of 100k ohms or greater affect the meter reading, and the analog output, by 1& or less, depending on the scale in use.

The sensing head is joined to the meter unit with a 48-inch long cable terminated in BNC connectors. the sensing head itself is mounted on a 6-inch long rod thatis, in turn, mounted on a 6-inch high rod via an adjustable knuckle. this assembly is held firmly in place by a JODON SB-3 stable steel base.
